See the all-new Momentum U2 electric outboard at BOATFEST South

 Following its UK launch at the end of last year, the latest innovation from Momentum Electric Marine will be making its BOATFEST South debut on the Electric Outboard stand (L19) in Portsmouth from 24-25 April 2026.

Lighter than most integrated 1kW electric outboards but with more than twice the power, the 2.5kW U2 outboard is a full-featured 5hp equivalent powerhouse with smart features for a wide range of applications.

“Its quick-swap integrated battery and robust construction make it the perfect electric outboard for a wide range of boats,” says Algie Bennett, founder and owner of Electric Outboard. “Its cable-free design, detachable battery with integrated trip computer and lightweight motor make it hugely portable – but not at the expense of performance.

“In tests with one person on board a Takacat T300LX at an average speed of 3 knots, the U2 lasted for over 9 hours and travelled almost 30 nautical miles. Using the full power function, it got up to 8 knots. Tests with one person on board an EZraft Q360 were even more impressive, running for over 18 hours and 55 nautical miles at 3 knots and getting to a top speed of 9 knots.”

Available in short and long shaft options, key features of the U2 include:

· Multi-function foldaway tiller doubles as carry handle

· Safety button to prevent going into reverse accidentally or straight to full power in forward

· Detachable, waterproof and removable high power 1.4 kWh battery with integrated trip computer including GPS
